Exeter Chiefs Sign Rimmer

Aviva Premiership side the Exeter Chiefs have secured the services of prop Carl Rimmer from the RFU Championship side the Cornish Pirates and have signed him on a year deal. The 26 year old was in blistering form in the recently concluded season for The Pirates and it was mainly on his shoulder that the side based in Penzance reached the playoff final in the RFU Championship where they were defeated by the London Welsh. His performances for The Pirates also earned him the plaudits as the Player of the Season for the club as well.

The signing of Rimmer is the eighth signing of the Chiefs in the close season as they look to strengthen the side after just missing out on the playoffs for the Premiership, finishing 5th in the table, six points behind 4th placed Northampton Saints. Speaking of his signing with the Exeter Chiefs, Rimmer was visibly excited as he stated that the decision for him to join the club was not difficult as one did not say no to a chance to play for one of the big clubs of the Aviva premiership.

Rob Baxter, the boss of the Chiefs also stated that the prized capture of Rimmer was something of a coup and added that he had a strong finish to the season and he still had some rawness in his game that can be molded according to the requirements of the club. Rimmer has played 90 matches for the Cornish Pirates after moving to the side from Coventry back in 2009.

But Baxter also added that once he officially links with the players of the Exeter Chiefs, he will need to improve his game a bit in order to match that of the other players in the Aviva Premiership but that will not be too much of a trouble.
